No Man’s Sky has received its free Cosmos update, which is now live on PS5 for existing PlayStation players. Hello Games describes the release as a major overhaul of the game’s space environments.
Cosmos adds asteroid belts, space hulks, outposts, missions and strange anomalies. The update’s focus is space itself, giving the latest release a more substantial setting for its new activities and mysteries.
“With Cosmos we wanted to make space feel truly alive,” Sean Murray, founder of Hello Games, wrote in the official announcement. He then described the additions as “asteroid belts, space hulks, outposts, missions, strange anomalies, and tons of mystery to explore.”
The update also adds a map that lets players plot their routes and keep track of every system they encounter, providing a dedicated way to follow their movement through the expanded space environment.
Murray also writes that “The Cosmos update brings a massive overhaul to space itself and is free to download for existing PlayStation players today.” The announcement specifically identifies the launch platform as PS5.
Although No Man’s Sky is listed for PS4 and PS5 on the PlayStation Store, the available PlayStation.Blog announcement does not explicitly confirm that Cosmos launched simultaneously on PS4.
