Metal Slug Ultimate Collection has been officially detailed for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, with a 2027 launch confirmed by Nintendo. Push Square reports that the collection is also planned for PS5, although the PlayStation platform and its release timing are not confirmed by the primary Nintendo material available here.
The compilation will contain 10 games and versions: Metal Slug 1 through 6, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 7, Metal Slug Advance and the original Metal Slug location-test version. Nintendo says that location-test build, which was once considered lost, will be included on consoles for the first time.
The confirmed Nintendo feature set includes online multiplayer, online rankings, an expanded gallery covering artwork and music from the series, and an enhanced Combat School mode. Push Square additionally attributes online co-op, score and time-attack leaderboards, gallery content and other features to the collection, while reporting that M2 is handling the release.
For PlayStation players, the PS5 report would give the series another modern collection after earlier entries reached Sony platforms. Metal Slug Anthology is listed as a PS4 game playable on PS5, while Metal Slug XX is also available as a PS4 title with PS5 compatibility. Neither store listing confirms the new Ultimate Collection.
The announcement also briefly mentions a separate new Metal Slug game. No verified title, developer, genre, platforms or release window were provided in the available evidence, so it is not possible to establish whether that project is connected to the collection beyond the shared franchise.
