Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 remakes coming to Switch 2 on October 16

Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4: Gold Edition will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16, 2026. The date was announced during the official Nintendo Direct presentation, which also said that pre-orders would begin later that day through the Nintendo eShop.

The editions are not identical. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition includes downloadable content, while Resident Evil 4: Gold Edition includes additional content such as Separate Ways. Resident Evil 3 was listed without a special-edition label in the announcement.

Capcom’s official Switch 2 website also lists all three games with the same October 16, 2026 release date. Its Latin American page shows the date as well and lists individual launch discounts through November 7, but the regional information should not be treated as proof that pricing, discounts or availability will be identical worldwide.

Gematsu additionally reported that physical editions would follow on January 29, 2027. That second date remains attributed to the outlet rather than presented as a primary confirmation from Nintendo or Capcom.

The announcement is specific to Nintendo Switch 2. The remakes already have official PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions, but the material consulted does not announce a new PlayStation release, update, cross-buy option or other additional PlayStation plans connected to this Switch 2 launch.

Several practical details are still open, including prices, download sizes, languages, ratings by territory and the technical features planned for Nintendo’s system. Capcom also notes that the announcement trailer was captured on another platform, so it should not be used as evidence of final native Switch 2 image quality or performance.
