One of My Favourite Light Novels Is Getting a PS5 Game, and I Screamed

The Apothecary Diaries is coming to consoles for the first time with The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother. Koei Tecmo has confirmed the game for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam, with release planned for early 2027.

The official announcement describes the project as the anime’s first console game adaptation. The exact launch date has not been set: the Japanese PlayStation Store listing currently says the release date is undecided, so “early 2027” remains a window rather than a confirmed day.

The game is presented as a single-player mystery adventure starring Maomao. Its investigation loop will involve exploring locations, collecting evidence, preparing medicines, organizing information and drawing deductions while she investigates the Five Mysteries and Five Curses.

That structure gives the PS5 release a clearer identity than a simple anime tie-in. The available material presents an investigation-focused adventure, although it does not yet detail the game’s full systems or how the different versions will compare.

Koei Tecmo credits series author Hyuganatsu with conceptualizing the game’s brand-new story. That is narrower than saying she wrote the entire scenario, a description used by Push Square but not confirmed by the official wording currently available.

Gematsu identifies Gust as the developer, working in cooperation with TOHO Games.

The Japanese official site lists all four announced platforms, while the North American Koei Tecmo page confirms the early 2027 window. Regional availability, languages, pricing and a specific western PS5 release date have not been announced.
